A World with no Sport

It seem’s like we are in a movie like those movies that features Tom Cruise, Gerad Bulter and of course Morgan Freeman. A world of no sport this is the world we are living in right now. For those who are from Australia will know that now with the suspension of our favourite game Aussie Rules the drought of sport continues . Sport is important in the world. Look around the world. Sport is what make’s us feel acceptance, love, appreciation and gives hope to many who may not have hope. Looks at sport such as soccer/football people in Brazil crave it and it is escape from their issues that happened in their country what are they going to do now . So with no sport what are we gong to do as people.

This world is looking stranger what does a world with no sport look like. Well for starters people will become less physical and activte as this virus makes the world be more lock up then prisons. Moreover Sport creates jobs for players, club members, fans and pundits. Look at last week as sport was slowly vanishing so was Sport Journalists at Australia’s major sport’s network Fox Sports with the likes of Daniel Garb, Josh Money, Josh Garlepp, Natalie Yoannids all show the door. Not to mention what is are people at Fox Footy, Fox League and those at ESPN going to do. Huge job cuts are the new norm in every place of work as this pandemic effects everything it touches.

For a world with no sport what will it look like, well all those sport channels might be shutdown for a while with replays of what the world use to look like. As a sport’s fan right now it hurts to see no sport but must be patience and reasonable and once sport starts up again will must take it for granted and nurture it and let grow back into our society again.

Australian Sporting Landscape is about to be change forever

The New Normal

Sport in Australia is our identity as a Australian. Sport is key to our society from the elite sport to amateur sport. Sport is what bring us together and keeps us motivated. As the CoronaVirus effects sport from a local to a professional it proves that sport is something that we should nurture like a baby.

This what been said by local sporting competitions Premier Cricket Victoria in a statement “Cricket Victoria has made the decision to cancel all Premier Cricket finals from this week onwards. This decision has been made in the best interests of Premier Cricket participants and the wider community and to further protect players, staff, volunteers and match officials at all levels of the game plus the wider community during the global coronavirus pandemic,”.

AFL VICTORIA in there Statement

“We are determined to be part of the whole of community response to slow this COVID-19 virus down – and in doing so, help the broader community and our health systems to cope.

Following a series of meetings over the last number of days involving the AFL and all State and Territory CEOs, recommendations have been made in relation to Community football.

Consistent with the decision yesterday in relation to State League football and the national and state talent programs, all AFL and AFL State association managed or operated leagues along with the NAB AFL Auskick Centres programs currently operating or set to begin, will be postponed until 31st May 2020″.

Those statements were posted today and show’s how much this virus is impacting local sport.

As elite and local competitions are cancel. Our sporting landscape is changing. Lets look at a local level. Local Aussie rules competioms are delay until may that means all those volunteers, helpers and clubs that work hard in the off season are having to work harder to fix issues such fixtures, ground management and fundraising and functions as we as society are trying to work out when can we can go watch our local footy. Now to make it more complex sport like Cricket is in same spot with finals being postpone and first time since the world war there will be no winner of District cricket finals around the nation. Questions are being raised what will happend in 6 months time when it is October and local footy leagues are still playing and cricket will want to move in? Could we see Summer sport play through late march so the footy leagues can finish their final series. What happens to volunteers and those who day and night at associations and clubs? This is the world we live in uncertainty and concern.

On to Elite sport it is hard to understand why the AFL and NRL are wanting to start while other elite sporting competitions such as the NBA, MLB, NHL, EPL, UFEA , Cricket Australia, ATP and WTA have all cancel competitions. It is like the AFL and NRL are higher than anything and which I personality like to see footy play in barren stadiums it would quite contradiction from government officials. Prime Minster Scott Morrison said today “Banning of all gatherings outdoor max of 500 and for indoor gathering 100 people”,. .But as disgrace AFL player Manger Ricky Nixion said a while back quote “Footy will never have a recession”,. So we may have some sport on the weekend but at what cost.

This is what Richmond and Carlton will be greeted on Thursday night if still going ahead

NBA CANCEL due to CoronaVirus

NBA have decided to cancel the regular season over Utah Jazz Rudy Gobert who has tested positive to CoronaVirus. The last time the regular season was officially cancel was world war 2 if you do not count the lockdowns. In other news the AFL are tight lipped on what will be done .

As for Round 1 will go ahead same for the NRL. The Melbourne Grand Prix is still going ahead even though teams are in quarantine . This Virus has effected everyone and anyone this world has just little crazier.

What Cricket could look like in 2050?

This is only theory but cricket in 2050 might be very different to what we know in 2019. So what will change.

The Pitches, Cricket pitches in today’s world have been quite good only for few expectations such as the flat pitch at the MCG and in Dubai but for everyone else cricket pitches have been quite good and created good cricket to watch. In 2050 cricket pitches might be limited with the world warmly rapidly and you guess it Climate change will be huge impact for everyone not just cricketers. For cricketers stake pitches might be more drier and be easier to bat on as could be limited water on it and also if there going to be oppressive heat cricket pitches will crack and make it harder to bat on later in a test match. I am guessing by 2050 there will technology to create cricket pitches that mirror all conditions around the world and make them rain proof.

The bat, cricket bat’s have change since WG Grace and keep changing, you only have to look at the bats that some modern players with big and heavy, I am guessing cricket bats will be still made out wood but could be limited so bats maybe made out of metal as we saw from Dennis Lillie in the 80’s batted with metallic bat. In addition to this bats might be have a perfect middle and we could see ball’s flying in a match in 2050.

The ball, cricket ball’s have been the same for many years so that one thing that has never change but they could change. An entrepreneur out there could develop a cricket ball that could swing for 80 overs and still be shiny even if it was hit to the fence. Also could create technology on the ball to have a camera on it create the ultimate viewing experience for the tv audience.

The Umpire, Umpires are human and do mistakes we all know that because given out on a dodgy lbw or caught behind so with society wanting everything perfect will we soon AI controlling a cricket match and leave the human umpires out of a job this is possible, as we seen now with the DRS more and more people do not trust the umpire decisions and will go upstairs for a decision to be overturned. In 2050 we might see AI umpires controlling a test match.

The formats, TEST ,ODI, T20 These three formats have serve cricket and made the game interesting, exciting and fascinating but these formats might change in 2050. As seen in the UK with their new format call “the 100” this is format cricket is crazy and show’s the ideas of people trying to make cricket interesting for all. We will see end of ODI but saying that we seen the best world cup final in decades so we only know when we get there. For Test cricket the duration of days may change with lot cricket heads saying it should four days not five and more overs in a day from 90 overs to 100 overs like a county game. In 2050 let’s just say the ICC test championship is well dead and test cricket is seen by the pundits as boring and is past the times. T20 this format will thrive and will most watch for cricket in 2050 and must watch cricket as a society we do not like patience and we are a now society as we want things fast not slow so this will perfect format in 2050.

My overall opinion, Cricket in 2050 will be different to when watch cricket now as anything style of cricket is different from each decade for example in the 90’s cricket was quite orthodox with batsman batting for long time and a par score in a one day game was about 240 , now the game is about scoring quickly and captains being aggressive with field placement and how they approach a game, for example a par score in one day match is 350. In 2050 we might see another Steve Smith , Virat Kohli but the style of cricket will be different and the game we know will be different. In addition will laws of cricket change will it be mandatory to wear a helmet will there be no mankad? Also climate change that will huge impact on grounds like Galle, Cape town, MCG, SCG and many more for example Galle is near the ocean it could see huge flooding, Cape town may have no water so they can not make cricket pitch all this will effect cricket. So cricket in 2050 is harder to predict then if the UK will leave the EU or Donald Trump winning the next election.

Best test matches in the 2010’s

Ben Stokes hitting the winning runs in the third test at Edgbaston 2019 Ashes Series

As we coming to end of the decade of 2010’s here are the best test cricket matches from 2010 to 2019.

2014 Pakistan vs New Zealand in Dubai, this is one most saddest test match as this match was played through the passing of Philip Huhges . Pakistan made 351 with Mohammad Hafeez made 197. In reply New Zealand made amazing first inning score of 690 with Brendan Mccullum made a double century and was honour for Phillip Hughes and Kane Williamson made 192 also. The best number 8’s in test cricket

With number 8 batsman Yasir Shah making 100 yesterday at Adelaide in the pink ball test lets have a look at the top 5 number 8 innings in test cricket.

Number 1 Wasim Akram 257 not out. Wasim Akram is know for being one of the best fast bowlers in the world with his amazing swinging deliveries but he could bat and prove it against Zimbabwe in Sheikhupura with 257 the match ended in a draw but quite amazing for number 8 to make a double century. Wasim holds the record I think that will last for a long time.

Number 2 Imtiaz Ahmed 209. Imtiaz Ahmed is the first wicketkeeper ever to make a double hundred and it made in Lahore. He held record for highest score at number 8 for over 40 years until Wasim Akram double century. He made the double century against New Zealand which help Pakistan make a mammoth total of 561 in their first innings.

Number 3 Jason Holder 202. This one is more recent Jason holder the captain for the west indies made impressive double hundred against England at Bridgetown earlier this year. It was quite impressive innings as it was in the second innings and set up a famous win for the West Indies. It is regarded as one of the best innings by a number 8 batsman in the modern era.

Number 4 Kamran Akmal 154. Another wicketkeeper as he made this century against England in Lahore. His century was key to Pakistan’s first inning’s total of 8 declared of 636 and was his overall top score in test cricket.

Number 5 Ms Dhoni 144. One of the best wicketkeeper batsman in the modern era made 144 at number 8 against the West Indies in Kolkata as Dhoni century was a huge help in India making a mammoth total of 7 declared for 631.

5 Reasons why a pink ball test is key for test cricket

Reason 1 The ball swings, That is bad news for David Warner and any other flat track bully batsman and great news for the likes such as James Anderson, stuart Broad and Josh Hazelwood. Swing same as spin make’s the match interesting for all involve it show’s us as viewers if a batsman that does play for his country can bat in all conditions. Let’s be honest we all want to watch interesting cricket not run fest cricket.

Reason 2 Increases Viewership, this test match between Pak Vs Aus on friday will have a bigger audience at the Adelaide then the Gabba test combine for the whole test. People like different and want to different style of cricket look what occur when one day’s game started in the 1980’s people were flocking to watch it now they are doing the same. Cricket has gone the full circle and this test match will see bumper crowds also increase Tv audiences as it is on at prime time.

Reason 3 Different Tactics, this test points out different tactics for each team for example do you declare before stumps on day one to have a crack at the other team with them tried and having field all day with a swinging ball, do you bowl spin during the day time as the ball has seem have no movement at day time . We will see different tactics in use for upcoming test in Adelaide.

Reason 4 Creates patience for batsman , As the batsman who are coming in into night time session makes them learn bat through the night and know to bat slowly and get through the session so they can cash in the day also there a lot of time to bat as could need bat day one they could needed to bat two days. Also with a swinging ball the batsman need to be patience so they can build innings we do not need a run fest but also do not need a test over in 2 days.

Reason 5 Makes for interesting last day’s. Let’s imagine the day night test match in Adelaide goes to the last day with Pakistan needed 150 runs with 3 wickets in hand and Australia take the second new ball under lights now that would be great. The last day has an interesting dynamic as will be under lights so the ball will be swinging and who ever is batting last will need to work for it.
